CLAR presents bulletin 15: Religious Life in the face of the challenges of mission, the Common Home, and artificial intelligence

With a focus on the current challenges of the mission, the Latin American and Caribbean Confederation of Religious Women and Men (CLAR) publishes the 15th edition of To the Rhythm of the Spirit, the newsletter corresponding to September-October 2026, which brings together experiences and reflections on Religious Life on the continent, with topics such as caring for our Common Home, synodality, and the use of artificial intelligence.

Father José Luis Loyola, president of CLAR, states in the editorial the need to “shift our gaze” to recognize the signs of life that arise amid crises. “We are not outside of the Earth; we are Earth,” he asserts, pointing out the spiritual and relational dimension of the ecological crisis.

The executive states that caring for our Common Home is part of the mission of Religious Life and concretely expresses the following of Jesus. Therefore, he calls to move “from consumption to care” and “from indifference to responsibility”, and to review lifestyles, decisions, and community practices to establish a renewed relationship with creation. “We are part of a vast community of life. Everything is deeply interconnected,” it states.

The bulletin highlights the work of the Integral Ecology Commission of CLAR that promotes ecological conversion and concrete practices for the care of our Common Home. It also includes an intercongregational experience in the Peruvian Amazon alongside the Naporuna people, where religious women accompany 36 communities in processes of intercultural education, training, and strengthening the protagonism of women.

Artificial intelligence also occupies a special place in this edition, analyzed from its ethical challenges, along with experiences that link communication, spirituality, and mission. The meeting “Wisdom that Inspires”, held in Bogotá with 11 religious women from eight countries, shared tools to create narratives capable of making the mission visible and safeguarding life.

The edition also presents experiences that reflect the synodal path of Religious Life in Venezuela and El Salvador, training initiatives in Brazil and the revitalization process of Consecrated Life taking place in Argentina.

With this new edition, CLAR shares experiences that show a Religious Life attentive to the signs of the times, committed to community life, and ready to respond to current challenges.
