The National Government and the Argentine Episcopal Conference highlighted the advances in organizing the visit of León XIV to the country, following the mission of representatives from the Secretariat of State of the Holy See.

During its tour of Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru, the Holy See delegation advanced together with local authorities in coordinating the various aspects of the trip apostolic, according to the joint statement.

The Government and the Episcopate emphasized the joint work between the State and the Church as a result of the preparations and an expression of the shared will to make León XIV's presence a contribution to Argentine society.

Institutional coordination ahead of the Pope's arrival

In the preparations provincial and municipal governments and various institutions committed to the organization are also participating. For the Government and the Episcopate, this articulation represents a valuable expression of “dialogue, cooperation, and fraternity.”

The presented project will continue in the evaluation and discernment stage, incorporating any necessary contributions. The definitive details of the visit will be announced by the Holy See through an official communication scheduled for September.

Argentina will be one of the three stops on Pope León XIV's first apostolic trip to South America, which will take place from November 6 to 17. The Pope will visit Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján between November 8 and 11, according to the announcement by the Holy See.

The definitive itinerary will be known in September

According to reports, the Holy See will announce the definitive itinerary and details of the visit in September. Until that announcement is made, the Government and the Church will continue working on the organization of the trip.

This will be León XIV's first visit to Argentina as Pontiff and will occur after the papacy of Francisco, born in Buenos Aires. The Government and the Episcopate present the process as a space for institutional cooperation aimed at making the Pope's presence significant for Argentine society.
