The Latin American and Caribbean Network for the Culture of Care is all set for the launch of its new campaign “Care Unites Us,” scheduled for this Monday, August 3, 2026.

This is a continental initiative led by the Episcopal Commissions for prevention, including teams from the Latin American and Caribbean Confederation of Religious (CLAR) and Caritas Latin America and the Caribbean.

The official launch event will take place through the digital channels of the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (Celam), CLAR, and Caritas LAC, at 5:00 PM Colombia time, 7:00 PM Argentina time, 6:00 PM Dominican Republic time.

The organizers indicated that the goal of this campaign is to promote a culture of care conceived as an expression of responsible leadership and pastoral commitment aimed at protecting, accompanying, and ensuring safe, respectful, and protective environments.

A task for everyone

Under the slogan “Caring is everyone’s responsibility,” this campaign seeks to integrate the prevention of abuse as a fundamental constitutive element within everyday ecclesial life.

To this end, they will design materials translated into Spanish, Portuguese, and English, which will be available to ecclesial communities, parishes, Caritas, and episcopates of the continent.

The campaign is aimed at bishops, priests, seminarians, religious, laymen, laywomen, and pastoral agents, reminding that the safeguarding of girls, boys, adolescents, and vulnerable people constitutes an unavoidable and cross-cutting task for the entire Church.

Nicolás Meyer, coordinator of Caritas for Latin America and the Caribbean, recalled that this entity comes together to continue promoting a culture of care that inspires communities, where each person is welcomed, respected, and accompanied.
